Project Overview
MindSpa.com set out to create something unprecedented: a mental wellbeing super-app powered by advanced sound therapy. Built by the makers of Synctuition, their vision was to transcend traditional mindfulness apps and position MindSpa as a revolutionary space for emotional healing, personal clarity, and mental transformation.
Ascend Creative was chosen to bring this vision to life.
Our task? Design a future-proof, intuitive mobile experience that felt like entering a tranquil world of sound and imagination — while guiding users on a deeply personal healing journey.
The Challenge
The wellness app space is crowded. With giants like Calm and Headspace dominating the market, MindSpa needed a distinct identity, immersive design, and a visually magnetic interface that would emotionally connect with users from their first tap.
At the same time, the product vision was evolving constantly. Over the course of 2 years, the app grew to integrate:
3D Sound Journeys
Mental clarity diagnostics
A dynamic content feed
Background music experiences
Bonus healing materials (ebook, movie, guide)
We had to create a design system scalable enough to handle new features, while maintaining a calming aesthetic, smooth usability, and emotional depth.
Sound Journeys
Immersive, 3D sound journeys that use binaural beats, nature sounds, and guided storytelling to ease anxiety, improve sleep, and activate clarity.
My Clarity
Constantly evolving personal Clarity Profile showing the most important aspects of the user's mental health.
Positivity Feed
A personalized stream of inspiring quotes, educational videos, and articles based on user intent and emotional state.
Clarity Test
An innovative diagnostic tool that lets users measure their current mental clarity and track improvement over time.
UI/UX Design Approach
We built the interface using a glassmorphism design language. This gave the app a sleek, premium feel with semi-transparent elements that float above the vibrant, ethereal backgrounds.

Key UX principles applied:
Cognitive Load Minimization: clear flows, intuitive layout
Emotional Design: fluid movement, warm colors and golden tones create a sense of peace and security
Accessibility: legibility, touch targets, and color contrast ensured broad usability
AI-Powered Visuals
To make the experience truly immersive, we generated 200+ custom artworks using Midjourney AI (early models v.3 & v.4). These visuals served as:

Support the track's message and specific states of mind
Enhance user's imagination

Process & Collaboration
We designed the full UI/UX system in Adobe XD (developers preference) and collaborated with the client’s development team via Zeplin for seamless asset handoff and iteration.
Due to the evolving nature of the product, the design process was highly iterative. Weekly strategy calls ensured alignment, while we maintained creative consistency through a modular design system.

Conclusion
MindSpa wasn’t just another design project for us. It was a mission to give something meaningful to the world and shape the future of mental health through empathetic design, deep dialogue, and intelligent aesthetics.
We didn’t just design a bunch of screens, we delved deep into our inner world and meditated daily with the sounds of Mindspa to fully understand the energy and message that the app and its sounds were trying to convey. Through this innerstanding, we were able to create a captivating mobile app that breathes – something that users can truly feel, not just use.
